A few facts about myself :
How did you become interested in dietetics?
I became interested in Dietetics after I took an elective course my freshman year of college. I’ve always loved science and enjoyed learning how food affects our bodies.
What do you enjoy most about being a dietitian?
I like that things are always changing – from the latest research to fad diets – there’s always so much to talk about regarding nutrition. It’s an exciting field and an area that people are always talking about.
Do you have any advice for others who want to be successful in the dietetics field?
Stay open to all the possibilities that dietetics can offer. We have dietitians in very non-traditional roles and that’s super exciting! So get involved, ask questions, and be open-minded!
What do you enjoy most about your career?
Currently, I’m in a management role at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Even though I didn’t set out with a goal of being in management, I’ve found I really love it. It lets me combine clinical dietetics and project management – two areas I really enjoy. I’m able to work with many healthcare professionals across many departments. I also love getting to work with so many awesome dietitians both on the clinical and management side.
