SWIDDA meeting March 30, 2012
Meeting was held March 30 at the ISU Extension and Outreach office, West Pottawattamie in Council Bluffs. Meeting was called to order by President, Kay Wing at 2:10 pm.
Attendance was: Kay Wing, Barb Fuller, Emily Krengel, Sarah Mabary, Julie Klein, Melisa Baier. Jan Steffen joined via Adobe Connect.
Minutes from the last meeting as sent were approved.
Old Business: Name change was discussed, since both ADA (now Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics) and IDA (Iowa Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics) have changed names. Motion was made by Julie Klein, seconded by Melisa Baier that we retain our name. Motion carried.
New Business: Red Oak and Harlan have been selected for site visits for the Blue Zone project. Atlantic and Glenwood were not. Everyone can sign up on line to support one of the project locations.
Kids Eat Right mini grants are still available.
Upcoming meetings:
Nebraska Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics spring meeting will be held in Nebraska City, April 11-13. Conference agenda was shared with those attending.
Iowa Dietitians in Health Care Communities meeting will be held April 16 in Ankeny.
Diabetes Center of the Midlands spring conference will be April 21.
Election of officers was held.
Melisa Baier will become president. Barb Fuller will remain secretary. Sarah Mabary was elected president elect. Terms begin June, 2012.
Next meeting will be held the week of September 10. Melisa Baier volunteered to find a speaker or program, site to be determined.
