Drink Your Water & Eat it Too!

  • Media Spokesperson: Erin Good on KCCI News8

This summer, don’t just drink your water to stay hydrated, eat it too! Celebrate National Watermelon Month with this sweet, refreshing mocktail while still cutting down on added sugar. Erin Good, Hy-Vee Dietitian with the Iowa Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, will share with viewers simple strategies to staying hydrated and fun ways to get wild with watermelon!

  • Tips

    Fuel for Hot Summer Days
Avoid dehydration and eat your water! Apples, grapes, pineapple, tomatoes, and even spinach contain at least 80% water. Sip smart and look for flavored beverages low in added sugar for those hectic, on-the-go summer days.

    Fruit Out!
It’s no question that juicy watermelon is amazing on its own, but there’s plenty of other wonderful ways to enjoy watermelon. From fruit pizza, to watermelon salsa, salads and smoothies, this thirst-quenching fruit deserves to be the star attraction this summer.

    H20 + Woah
Watermelons are nearly 92 percent water making them an easy, colorful ice cube alternative in any summer beverage and a healthy snack at the end. Impress your guests and make clean up a breeze by hollowing out a watermelon using it as your fruit bowl or even a keg!
