A Finale Thank You from Outgoing IAND President Becky Prostine

IAND Members,

Thank you for the opportunity to serve as your President!
This past year has been filled with lots of learning, lots of questions, lots of conference calls, many smiles and a few bottles of wine. Kidding, but not really kidding.

Thank you, to those serving on the IAND Board and Council, and for those assisting in completion of the IAND Strategic Plan. The ladies and gentlemen on the IAND Board and Council tirelessly volunteer their time to promote our profession to the public, to healthcare providers, and to those in policy. They have worked to build up our local Districts by supporting changes in leadership, encouraging Districts to restart and finding ways to improve member participation and networking at the District level. They have spent time promoting our profession on social media, through the IAND website and newsletter, and as spokespeople for our local tv stations. These ladies and gentlemen have attended conferences on public policy, visited our representatives in Washington DC and shared our story of why dietitians are the “Nutrition Experts”. This group has published and is now promoting the sales of the Simplified Diet manual, using those profits to better serve and build up our members. Amazingly, these ladies and gentlemen complete these tasks all while working in their “real jobs” as RDNs. It has been an honor to work with such a fantastic group of RDNs who serve in leadership positions on the IAND Board, Council and as District Presidents, as we proudly promote our profession and build up RDNs.

A special thank you to our IAND Executive Director, Monica, and Joshua, of Ortman Production Inc., as both Monica and Joshua work behind the scenes on various projects and tasks throughout the year, which have made my role as President so much easier.

Thank you to a fabulous past President, Christi Frese and welcome to your fantastic incoming President, Erin Thole Summers.

Thank you, IAND members, for allowing me to serve you this past year. It has been a wonderful experience and I would encourage each of you, to say “yes!” to your next call to leadership.

Becky Prostine MPH RDN/LD
2017-18 IAND President
