When I was growing up my parents showed me the importance of staying active. Every day would be filled with a different activity, whether it was swimming, painting, playing outside with the farm animals, or being involved in the community. There was always something going on.

According to the American Academy of Pediatrics it is recommended to limit television time to no more than two hours. Encouraging physical activity several times throughout the day and limiting the inactive times will help inspire children to stay physically active through their lifetime. When children are not active it can lead to an increase in weight, increased chance for developing chronic diseases, and lower self-esteem.
