This month, we’re going to focus on the heart of the matter… the health of our heart!
Our heart continually works for us and our bodies throughout the day and continues while we rejuvenate at night. That’s a lot of work! The heart’s main job is to pump blood throughout our body, including the arteries and veins as well as the lungs. Because our heart works nonstop, let’s try and thank it by providing proper nutrition and exercise that will allow it to perform at its best! The heart, and body as a whole loves when we consume foods with variety: variety in color, flavor, texture, and nutrients. There are three major pigments in fruits and veggies; chlorophyll, carotenoids, and flavonoids. Chlorophyll gives food a bright green color, carotenoids contain yellow, orange, and red hues, and flavonoids can be blue, purple, or white.
